Part 1

What it's for

  1. What it does

An experiment sends two versions of a text to two halves of an audience, so you can compare what works. Both versions share one tracking link.

  2. Ways to use it

    • Test two hooks, such as a deal versus a reminder.
    • Test two calls to action.
    • Test a short message against a longer one.
Part 2

Run an experiment

  1. Open Experiments

The page lists your experiments with the date, name, channel and how many contacts were split across 2 variants. Search by name, change the Order, or select New Experiment.

    Your experiments.

    2. New Experiment

    3. Contacts split across 2 variants

  2. Follow the wizard

Pick SMS or Email, then work through four steps: Choose Who to Reach, Name Your Experiment, Write Your Variants and Preview & Send. You need at least 2 contacts. The audience is split in two at random.

    The New Experiment wizard.

    1. SMS and Email tabs

    2. Choose Who to Reach

    3. Write Your Variants

    4. Preview & Send

  3. Write your two versions

The tracking link is added for you, so do not type a link into a variant. Select Create Links & Continue, then Continue, then Continue to Preview.

  4. Send or schedule

Select Send Experiment or Schedule Experiment. Each version sends like a campaign.

  5. Cancel an experiment

Cancel Experiment works while it can still be cancelled. A scheduled test is fully refunded. A running test refunds only the messages that were not sent.

  6. Compare the results

You compare the two versions yourself in Performance. The product does not pick a winner.
